Feeling Depressed? What you can do to feel better.
LifestyleWell there may be a reason why you are feeling depressed, you may be lonely, you have a lack of purpose, relationship issues, no hope on the horizon well it’s natural and it’s a sign that something is out of place and needs work. First step is acknowledging and identify you are depressed. Once you’ve got through that stage and acknowledge your shame below are some tips to bring your low levels up.
Have 30gm of Protein within 30 minutes of waking up.
In the mornings I’ll have a protein shake which you can combine with having a health breakfast. See http://www.adhocit.com.au/great-and-inexpensive-breakfast-options-to-start-the-day/
Get Quality Sleep
8 hours minimum and get your body into a regular routine, e.g. go to bed at the same time every day. You can also read this, How To Make Better Decisions By Sleeping Better.
Get Your Body Moving
It doesn’t really matter what the activity is. Could be walking, swimming, hiking, Yoga, etc. A favourite of mine is pod cast and walking. See suggested podcasts here Long Drive To and From Work Each Day? Optimise Your Life With These Podcasts
Figure Out What Gets You Excited
What do you like, have you had a moment and though wow that’s exciting. These are the things that you are looking for. Could it be reading? could it be running, could it be talking to people, drawing, etc. Think about it over the few weeks and take a note when you smile during an activity, what prompts you to ask questions.
Get Social
Combine what gets you excited with social activities. Like drinking beer? Well that’s great, maybe someone you know likes to have a drink at a craft beer brewery. Maybe you’re into running, so you can join a running club. Jiu Jitsu is also really great as a team activity. Group workout classes are also great, for example F45. Also leverage off your family and your work colleagues. Get to know them better by taking them out to lunch, or a chat around the water cooler.
Eat Healthy
Eat fresh vegetables, fruit and protein. Stay away from take away food, large quantities of chips and chocolates.
